Thermal Hot Springs

Baldi Hot Springs

Sitting at the base of Arenal Volcano, Baldi is one of the World’s largest hot springs.  Choose from 25 pools with crystal clear thermal waters, all set within beautiful gardens. Baldi features a wide variety of pool temperatures, waterslides, swim up bars, a unique steam cave, a luxurious spa and a nice restaurant.

The Springs Hot springs features 3 areas with various pools.  The main area are larger, multi-tiered pools with cascades, swim-up bar and open lounging areas.  Perdido Springs features more intimate pools and a small waterslide in the rainforest.  Club Rio along Arenal River features multiple, intimate pools along a pathway winding through the rainforest.

Ascend the mountain with a naturalist guide explaining the rainforest canopy and ecosystem. At the top, linger on the expansive viewing platform for panoramic views of Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal and the valley below.  From there, you can either take the tram back down, or take exhilarating zip lines back down (Sky Trek).

After taking the tram up the mountain, strap on a rock-climbing harness and zig-zag down the canyon on overhead cables (Zip Lines).  Some of the traverses are 300 feet off the ground in the middle of the valley, and the longest is over 2,000 feet long!  This a very professional, safe and well-designed experience for the slightly more adventurous.

Club Rio at the Springs Hot Springs Resort

Club Rio is the adventure center at The Springs Hot Springs Resort. Choose 2 activities from guided hiking, horseback riding, inflatable river kayaking, river tubing & rock climbing.  Between activities and a great lunch, you can tour the wildlife refuge and relax in several hot springs pools along the river.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is absolutely spectacular! Walk on rainforest trails right next to flowing waterfalls in lush, verdant rainforest with lots of colorful birds, flowers, butterflies, monkeys and jungle cats.  La Paz is what most people envision Costa Rica to be.  A great lunch is included with your visit here.

Following is a partial list of available activities.  Prices listed below are per person.  Please call us if you are interested in an activity not listed here.

Sarapiqui Rafting

Sarapiqui Rafting – $90

Raft down the Sarapiqui river with easy but fun Class II – III rapids. The lush landscape features stunning rainforest and beautiful cascading waterfalls.

Guided Hike near Arenal Volcano

Guided Hike near Arenal Volcano – $25

This easy hike near the back side of the volcano with a professional guide features the volcano, its history and surrounding rainforest habitat.

The Canopy Tour

The Canopy Tour – $45

Zip through the treetops in rock-climbing harnesses from one platform to another in the rainforest canopy. Ziplining is adventurous, exhilarating and educational. No special experience is needed, and it is not rigorous.

Arenal Hanging Bridges

Mistico Hanging Bridges – $39

Mistico Hanging Bridges sits in a valley near the Volcano with trails and suspension bridges in the rainforest. This guided hike with groomed trails is moderate in length and steepness, punctuated with stunning views of the volcano.

Caño Negro

Caño Negro – $99

Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge features a wetlands ecosystem with hundreds of bird, plant and animal species. Glide through on the Cano Negro lagoon and its branching waterways on a safe, flat bottom boat with professional guides.

Waterfall Rappelling/Canyoning

Waterfall Rappelling/Canyoning – $103

Rappel down a waterfall in the rainforest surrounding Arenal Volcano. This relatively strenuous tour involves a short hike to a canyon with a large waterfall, and then rappelling in rock-climbing harnesses down a 100-foot waterfall.

Mountain Biking

Bike Tour – $89

The Arenal Volcano area offers excellent Biking opportunities. Two different tours are available, depending on your level of fitness and duration. One travels along the very scenic Lake Arenal to a small town at the base of the Volcano for lunch with very few hills. A combination of roads and trails is used for the advanced tour.

Rainbow Bass Fishing

Fishing on Lake Arenal – $275

Guapote (“Rainbow Bass”), machaca and freshwater tarpon are all found in Lake Arenal. Half-day or full-day trips are available on small bass boats. Fishing is done with spinners near the shore and by trolling in deeper waters.
